Year 6

Year 6

Welcome back Year 6! I hope you had a lovely Christmas and New Year and are coming back feeling rested. I can't believe we have already had a term together!

Our next topic this term is 'A Child's War' This looks at WWII including life for evacuees, the holocaust and how life in Britain changed over this period of time. To begin this topic off in an exciting way, we will be having our launch day on Wednesday 16th January. Children are invited to come to school dressed as an evacuee in WWII times. They are also asked to bring part of their homework which was their evacuee box with their name and address on it! This will be such an exciting day! Look on the Spring page of the Year 6 website to see pictures after we have had this engaging day.

This term will start to include revision for the KS2 SATs tests which take place on the week beginning 13th May from 13th-16th May. Children must be in school on these dates so please plan ahead to ensure this is possible avoiding any appointments or planned absences on these days. More information including purchasing revision materials, a parent's meeting and after school booster sessions will be sent out throughout this term.

We will also be working hard in all subjects including Maths, English and RE. Science, ICT and Art will be with Mrs Carlisle, German with Mrs Stanton, Music with Mrs Stanton and P4C with Mr Bennett.

PE will take place on Fridays so please ensure that your PE kit is in school on these days.

As always, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions! I am looking forward to spending the rest of the year with you all!

Our Classroom

Have a look at our classroom for this year! We have our Topic, RE and Spelling displays ready to use and learn from. We also love to read in our new Harry Potter reading area complete with a whomping willow, a line of spiders and Hogwarts!

In our reading area, we also have our Author of the half term which is David Almond. We have enjoyed learning more about him and his books!
