What actually happened?
The construction of the Titanic began in Belfast and lasted from 1908-1909. It set sail on April 10th 1912 at 12 noon from Southampton.
The ‘unsinkable’ ship sailed calmly until the night of April 14th. An iceberg struck the starboard ( right ) side of the Titanic, causing it to slowly sink. It took 20 minutes for the captain to decide to uncover the lifeboats and after 2 hours, the last lifeboat left, leaving the Titanic to sink.
