Spring Term 2 - Bright Lights, Big City

For our launch day, we had a very special guest. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II visited our class to share with us all about her role as Queen of England. She showed us her crown and her special red box of letters. We also found out that she rules the countries in the Commonwealth and the Queen showed us a map of these places. We asked her some great questions. We had to bow and curtsy to her and we stood for the National Anthem.  We also presented her with some flowers. We had a royal tea party with Union Jack Flags, red and blue table cloths, cake, juice and biscuits whilst the Queen went and had a cup of tea. We loved meeting the Queen.

For our innovate task, we became travel agents. We received a postcard from Marley the Meerkat. He told us that he was coming to London from his home in Zambia to see his family who live at London Zoo. He had heard we have been learning all about our capital city and wanted us to help him to plan a tour of London before arriving at London Zoo. We had to use all our knowledge of different landmarks to plan a tour of the top 5 places. We even made a map and wrote directions so that Marley won't get lost in such a big city!

For our express, we invited our parents and carers to come and see what we have been learning about. We told them all our favourite facts and then we presented our London 2019 guides that we made as part of our innovate task. Thank you for coming parents! smiley
