Did Dragons Exist?

This topic will allow children to follow an interest in different types of reptiles and their habitats while we explore whether in fact dragons were ever real! We will take a focus on bearded dragons; looking at their natural environment and how they can be cared for as pets.

Children will explore a range of stories on the theme of dragons, knights, castles and princesses; including the traditional tale of Jack and the Beanstalk. This will be a stimulus for children planting their own beans and observing how they grow.

As part of the topic children will think about castle life. They will think about the kind of people who would have lived within a castle, such as Royalty and people of Nobility. They will also look at the different parts of a castle and think about how they compare to our own homes.

Our PE session will continue to be on a Wednesday. Children will need to ensure they have their PE kits in school on this day to allow them to participate fully in these sessions. This includes appropriate footwear for indoor and outdoor sessions. If your child has their ears pierced then please ensure these are removed on a Wednesday for the PE session.

Please keep visiting the page for further updates and photos.

Innovate Week

For Innovate week the children have been designing their own pottery tiles based on Clarice Cliff's designs. They were very excited to go on their first school trip to visit the Glazey Place. There the children painted their own pottery tiles and learnt about different tools and techniques used in pottery design. Take a look at some of the photos from our wonderful trip!

Our Author of the Term is David Mckee. He has written many well-known children's stories such as Elmer, Not Now Bernard and Belinda Brown. If you would like to bring a story into school by David Mckee to share with your friends we would love to read them together!
