Autumn Term

How Do Buildings Stay Up?

This term we will be learning about 'How Do Buildings Stay Up?'

Our topic this term is concentrating on how buildings are built, who builds them and why. We will be investigating some of the different materials used to build and the different types of buildings and their uses. We will also be looking at some of the job roles of those on a building site. Some of the books we will focus on this topic are The Three Little Pigs, The Town Mouse and The Country Mouse and The Three Billy Goats Gruff.

Our PE session will continue to be on a Wednesday, children will need to ensure they have their PE kits in school on Wednesday to allow them to participate fully in these sessions, this includes appropriate footwear for indoor and outdoor sessions. If your child has their ears pierced then please ensure these are removed on a Wednesday for the PE session.

Keep checking back to see what fun things we have been doing this term!

Why Do Leaves Go Crispy?

Welcome to Reception Class! In Reception all of our topics are thought provoking and ask the children a question. This term we will be considering ‘Why Do Leaves Go Crispy?’

Our topic this half term is looking at Autumn and how the seasons change throughout the year. We will be exploring different woodland environments and some of the animals that live in the woodland. We will also be looking at the changes that take place in the trees over the seasons and in particular, how they change during Autumn. We enhance our topics by reading good quality narratives -some of the titles include; Farmer Duck, The Little Red Hen, The Gruffalo and The Scarecrows Wedding.

We have some wellies available for children to wear in the outdoor area but children can bring a pair of their own if preferred. Please ensure they are clearly labelled with names. Wellies help to keep school shoes clean whilst the children can still have fun in the mud!

We love to upload photographs of our time in Reception and we hope you will keep checking back to see what we have been up to.
