How Do Buildings Stay Up?

This term we will be learning about 'How Do Buildings Stay Up?'

Our topic this term is concentrating on how buildings are built, who builds them and why. We will be investigating some of the different materials used to build and the different types of buildings and their uses. We will also be looking at some of the job roles of those on a building site. Some of the books we will focus on this topic are The Three Little Pigs, The Town Mouse and The Country Mouse and The Three Billy Goats Gruff.

Our PE session will continue to be on a Wednesday, children will need to ensure they have their PE kits in school on Wednesday to allow them to participate fully in these sessions, this includes appropriate footwear for indoor and outdoor sessions. If your child has their ears pierced then please ensure these are removed on a Wednesday for the PE session.

Children in Reception will be taking on the role of the 'sheep' for our nativity this year! We are very excited and can't wait to show you all the hard work we have been doing over the last few weeks learning all the wonderful songs!

Keep checking back to see what fun things we have been doing this term!

Why Do Leaves Go Crispy?

Welcome to Reception class! In Reception all of our topics are thought provoking and ask the children a question. This term we will be concentrating on 'Why Do Leaves Go Crispy?'

Our topic this term is looking at Autumn and how the seasons change. We will be investigating different woodland environments and some of the animals who live in the woodland. We will also be looking at the changes that take place in trees over the seasons, and how leaves change during Autumn. Some of the books we will focus on this topic are The Scarecrows Wedding, Pumpkin Soup, The Gruffalo and Farmer Duck.

In Reception class we will be having a PE session on a Wednesday, children will need to ensure they have their PE kits in school on Wednesday to allow them to participate fully in these sessions, this includes appropriate footwear for indoor and outdoor sessions.

If you have not already sent a pair of labelled wellington boots into school for your child to use we would greatly appreciate it if you could do this to ensure the children are able to access the outdoor area to its full extent.

We love to upload photographs of our time in Reception and we hope you will keep checking back to see what we have been up to.

As part of our Innovate week we have been making autumn mobiles
