Year 4

Misty Mountain

Welcome back to the Spring Term of Year 4. This half term, our topic is Misty Mountain Sierra. In this topic, we'll discover how these giants of nature are formed, as a fold or a block, a dome or a plateau. As part of our Innovate task, we'll plan a mountain expedition from the British Mountaineering Council that is eco-friendly and safe as can be.

Our new topic in RE is 'Community'. We will be learning about the communities that we're part of, our parish community and the community that Jesus built with his apostles.

PE will take place on Wednesday and Friday so please ensure that your PE kit is in school on these days. As with last term, homework will be given out on a Friday and should be returned by the following Wednesday. Guided Reading homework should be completed each Friday.

See the photographs below from our exciting Launch Day.

Our author of the term for Spring 1 is Pamela Butchart. We have a range of her books available to read and of course we have our recommendation station for all our book reviews. I can't wait to see what we all think of this fantastic author's books.
Road Trip USA

Welcome to Year 4 Autumn term 2.

I hope you all enjoyed the holidays and that you have had a restful time. As usual, if you have any concerns, please feel free to contact me. I am very happy to help.

The theme of this study is based on the USA. Buckle up, sunglasses on, we’re going on a road trip across the good old USA. Flying from Gatwick and landing at JFK airport, New York. The topic will explore the sights and sounds of the Big Apple. The topic introduces us to the Native American tribes and their traditions and customs.

The Blue Abyss

Welcome to Year 4—I hope you all enjoyed the summer holidays and that you have had a restful time.

As usual, if you have any concerns, please feel free to contact me. I am very happy to help.

The theme of this study is based on the oceans and seas with a focus on the creatures that inhabit them, their different layers and the issues they face.

The topic is very much art and design based and there will be many opportunities for the children to be creative in their work. If you or a family member feel you could help us with this topic in any way or have any resources you think may be useful, then please get in touch.

PE is on a Wednesday so please ensure that the children have their full PE kit in school on this day.

Homework and homework books need to be returned to school on a Wednesday.
